Our Verdict
The Honeywell HUL545W is decent for general home use. Its humidification capacity is sufficient for smaller apartments, living rooms, and large bedrooms. It also runs pretty efficiently. Its 15-hour runtime will allow it to run while you're at work or class, though it's also a little shorter than some other units with comparable capacity. Unfortunately, sterilizing its water tank properly can be a bit of a hassle.

The Honeywell HUL545W is a good option for use in bedrooms. It has a pretty discreet presence, with a compact size and very low operating noise. It also doesn't have any distracting lights that would keep you up while trying to get some sleep. Its 15-hour runtime will also last you through the night, provided you fill the tank. Thankfully, it will shut off once its tank has run dry, so you don't have to worry too much about the machine being damaged if it does run out while you're asleep.

The Honeywell HUL545W is moderately demanding to clean. It can be disassembled pretty easily, though a fair few parts need to be cleaned periodically. Unfortunately, none are dishwasher-safe. The water tank also has a few awkward crevices where grime can accumulate.

Compared To Other Humidifiers

That said, it's a bit of a nuisance to clean, especially compared to alternatives like the Vicks V3900.
Test Results
The Honeywell HUL545W is moderately difficult to clean. There are quite a few parts that need to be cleaned, though thankfully, the unit can be disassembled pretty quickly. None of its components are dishwasher safe, though admittedly, they can all be detached from the unit and washed within a sink. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to reach every part of the water tank can be difficult.
It's a pretty basic humidifier. You can adjust the misting level with the front dial. There's a tray for essential oils to add them to the mist. The unit will also automatically shut off once its water tank runs dry.
This humidifier has very good energy efficiency. Its power draw relative to its moisture is quite impressive.
This humidifier's overall efficiency is great, particularly if you use it in warmer, drier months. However, if you use this machine in cooler, drier months, your heating system might have to work a little harder to maintain a comfortable temperature.
